23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
God has taken me to some very high peaks, and down to some very low valleys, but the amazing part of the journey has been able to see God’s Glory shining in each up and down. I have been attending Corner House my whole life. In fact, my first memory in life is as a 4 year old boy in the preschool room. I was baptized into the church in December of 1992. I became a Deacon in 2013 and and Elder in 2017. While my family has been coming here for generations, I stay because Corner House is a simple, Bible-based church. The Truth from God is taught here.
I love teaching the Word of God and it is my favorite part of being an Elder. I think the most important thing we can do is teach the right doctrine and to take people into a deeper understanding of who God is, the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives, and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
I serve to lead people to a closer relationship with God and protect the people from Satan, sin and death. One of the hardest parts of a life with Christ is being so different from the world and being pulled away from God by modern culture. As an Elder, it is my duty to safeguard our people from the traps of life by using the Word of God as the lamp for others to follow.
Growing a church isn’t always about the numbers, and God has proved that over and over again. As an Elder, I’d rather see our church as Gideon’s army instead of the millions of Israelites wandering the desert.
